Mistakes
I think this poem was very well written. The title reflects something that everyone goes through. In order to become better and stronger people, we have to make mistakes. Like the girl in the poem, sometimes we let our mistakes take over our whole lives and let them determine who we are.

Confessions
I think what the poet says is true. readers, most of the time, do assume that poets don`t tell the truth because they don`t tell their stories from experience. I think the readers can relate to any poem/story as long as it has a real life background and has some kind of moral behind it.

i really like this poem because i can relate to it.....more than once we make mistake and in those moment we think that the world is gonna end for us..but there is when we need to understand that those are the thing that makes us who we are...

I really like the poem " mistakes",because its so true. we do not only learning things doing the right thing,we have to do mistake to learn the lesson. For me this poem is a good advice for youth people to see,that even if young people do a lot mistakes life goes on.

Hello Ms.

I like the poem, "Vovo's Advice", the poem brings out some of the issues facing young Cape Verdean immigrants in Boston. Many CV youth in Boston have a parent or two parents that work all the time and the parents don't know what is going on with their child in school, at home or on the street. Also, teenagers today live in a different generation than our grandparents did. We are expected to stay home, not be on the street at all, like our grandmothers did back home in Fogo. It is different here in Boston, we work, go to school and try to be around our friends. The life is different here than back home and the older generation of CV grandparents and some parents have a tough time understanding our younger generation.

I really like the poem "Distancia" because it makes me remenber of Cape Verde.It makes me remenber when i was leaving my country.i also like it because it's sad. I really like the way that you show how you miss Cape Verde and thats the same way i feel about living Cape Verde

I enjoyed reading the poem "Mistakes" because I know people do make mistakes and I consider myself of one that make huge mistakes. I don't feel bad about that because the mistakes I made in my past made me become a better person and be able to help others when there are confronting at the same thing. One more reason that make me like this poem is because every time I cant handle my mistakes I think I should die because I think this is how the problems going to be resolve, but when I think back,I change my mind. I say mistakes is just a mistake, life goes one. This poem really open my mind <3 <3

vovo's advice........i really like this poem because basically i can related to me and to all the thing that my grandmother always tell my cousin and me, and it really talk about things that are happening in our society.

vovo advice is my favorite poen because it remind me when i was in Cape Verde my grandmother always was there next to me to give some live advice special when i was in love with someone.
